ADVANCED TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM (ATS)  is a social service transportation provider in Humboldt County. ATS provides an expansion Dial-A-Ride/Dial-A-Lift service to the out lying areas of the Cities of Eureka and Arcata. The service areas are Fields Landing - King Salmon - Humboldt Hill - Elk River Rd - Ridgewood Heights - Samoa/Manilla - Indianola - Old Arcata Rd. It is also used to support community access for day services and recreation. ATS provides transportation to approximately 200 individuals daily. In addition, ATS provides transportation for special charter services to community events such as the Redwood Coast Dixieland Jazz Festival and the Ferndale Repertory Theatre.  HCAR has been designated as Humboldt County's Consolidated Transportation Services Agency.

HCAR is extremely proud of the safety record of this service and its staff. HCAR drivers are required to maintain current CPR and first-aid certification, a Class-B driver's license (with medical card and passenger endorsement), California Highway Patrol certification, an exemplary driving record, and to maintain their proficiency behind the wheel of the ATS' vehicles. Each of the radio-equipped 15-vehicle fleet receives a safety check from its driver before each trip, as well as a monthly inspection by a licensed mechanic and annual inspection by the California Highway Patrol.
