What is HCAR?
The Humboldt Community Access and Resource Center (HCAR) is a private nonprofit agency incorporated in 1955 by a group of dedicated parents seeking an alternative to institutionalization for their children with developmental disabilities. HCAR connects people who have disabilities with the community by providing opportunities for learning, living and employment. The agency assists its consumers to develop and maintain a network of supports that maximizes their opportunities to be contributing members of our community.
Comprehensive Career Services (CCS), a division of HCAR, has assisted adults with disabilities to achieve employment and career goals since 1988.
CCS is based on the premise that working is an important part of life for everyone. We provide job opportunities tailored to an individual's abilities that provide increased independence and self-esteem.
