HCAR Care-A-Van Offers Dial-A-Ride Services
Ross Jantz, Executive Director of the Humboldt Community Access and Resource Center (HCAR), recently announced that HCAR Care-A-Van Dial-A-Ride service continues to be available to provide transportation to eligible passengers. Service is available Monday through Saturday until 7:00 p.m. Passengers need to call HCAR at 443-7077 twenty-four hours in advance to make a reservation.
HCAR began serving Old Arcata Road, Manila, Samoa and Humboldt Hill in February 2006, but in response to requests from the community, the Humboldt County Association of Governments expanded HCAR’s service area to include Ridgewood Heights, Fields Landing, King Salmon and Elk River Road.
To qualify for service, passengers must reside in the service area and because of age or disability, be unable to ride the public transit buses. Applications for service must be processed by the Humboldt Transit Authority and include a verification from a physician. Eligible passengers may purchase tickets at Eureka City Hall, the Humboldt Transit Authority, the Senior Resource Center or Arcata Transit offices during their regular business hours For more information about HCAR’s Care-A-Van service contact Susan Driscoll, Transportation Coordinator at 443-7077.
